Amazing Beach, Good Food and Friendly Excellent Service! Oct 08, 2011
I stayed at the Bavaro Princess from June 25th to July 2nd 2011 and enjoyed every single day of my stay! Upon arrival we were given a room right by the main lobby which we found to be nice looking and clean :) We had a view of one of the pools which was nice. The grounds are very big and beautiful and have lots of peacocks, lizards and many birds including flamingos. They have trams running around the grounds which came quite often and were nice to take down to the beach which i found to be absolutely spectacular! There was nothing to see under the water but the sand and water were soooo nice and there was always as a good game of beach volleyball going on I participated in daily :) Enjoyed all of the food including the buffet except for the seafood restaurant el pescadore which I found to be gross actually.. The breakfast buffet was one of my favorites as Lionel the omelette chef makes the most amazing delicous custom omelettes ever! What a great way to start the day that was :) I took the excursion to Saona Island and even though it was an hour and half bus ride to the port we left from I enjoyed the ride because we traveled the towns and countryside and learned stuff about the country and people from our guide Fausto #2 (if you ever meet him you will know why he is Fausto#2 lol) We took speedboats to the island and stopped at a place called The Blue Lagoon to snorkel along the way where I found a couple starfish and a few fish :) once we got to Saona we were fed a delicous pasta and chicken buffet lunch and then relaxed in the beautiful waters on the picture perfect beach for a few hours before taking a party catamaran back to the port:) The one negative I found was you are given cards to trade for towels by the beach and if you lose your towel you have to pay $25 for a new card to get a new towel and if you do not you are charged the $25 upon checkout for not returning your card.. This is a problem because people steal other peoples towels left and right and had mine taken twice whilst in then ocean swimming. I think if the hotel just gave out the towels people wouldn't take other peoples. All in all thought it was an amazing trip at an amazing resort! I recommend this to everyone :)

Beautiful Beach Nov 21, 2009
I stayed at the Princess for 6 nights7 days in Jan09. First off, I haven’t traveled much outside of the US but I have to say the beach was absolutely beautiful, I practically was in the water or laying on the beach chairs most of the time, you get two towels per room and beach chairs/umbrellas are free depending on how early you get the the beach. The hotel grounds are pretty and well kept, and the hotel has a wild life reserve so there were plenty of beautiful birds and other animals running about, that being said prior to travel I read reviews about sewage smells at the Princess, of which I did experience but not enough to ruin the trip, some reviews said its worse during certain times of the year so maybe we lucked out!

The Hotel rooms were okay, we had two double beds, nothing luxurious but not terrible, descent size room, the rooms had to be kept ice cold so as not to get humid- none of our clothes dried if left in the room, there was a fridge, TV, safe, blow dryer, phone, house keeping came everyday. The rooms are set up like a house with 8 rooms each with private entry, you either have a patio or balcony, we were close enough to see the beach from our room. The hotel grounds are large, it’s a five minute- ten minute walk from the beginning of the resort to the beach, but there is a trolley that runs throughout the day.

The food was the not the best, they used sugar and mustard gravy on everything- this is an All-inclusive most of Punta Cana is AI- that being said there was fresh fruit fresh, donuts and nutella for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was dismal, you have to sign up for the restaurants for dinner the first day you arrive and they fill up quickly. The restaurants are themed, like Chinese or Italian, and the chefs do there best to produce such food, but I was often left hungry. Drinks are included, but excessively sugarized, anything imported was extra money. You can sign up for excursion at the front desk and the tour guides pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. There is not much nightlife in Punta Cana as it was nothing there prior to the resort being built in fact most of the workers our bused there from Higuey, the casino was sad and empty, there were 2-3 clubs/disco no live music just djays and lots of reggaeton- there are free rides to the club but you have to catch a cab back, cabs, one of the clubs is with walking distance! However there is an activities team that puts on shows every night, they also did beach/pool activities and games. I did like the live band that performed after the theater show, but they only perform for an hour and they were done by 11pm. The hotel wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, because of the food I probably will not return, Punta Cana is beautiful, a resort town, it doesn’t allows for much interaction with the locals, but I guess that’s how most of the clientele prefer it!

Luxury stay at Bavaro Princess Resort in Dominican Republic Dec 04, 2008
Beachfront resort on the most beautiful beaches of the Caribbean. Half hour drive of Punta Cana airport. The property is so immense that it takes a tram to shuttle guests from the principal common areas, past the mangrove jungle, to the two-story bungalows close to the beach and the country's largest resort pools (complete with swim-up bar). Boasting lovely landscaped grounds thick with palms, close to major shopping plazas, in the midst of the action, with the beach of fine white sand at the eastern extremity of the well-planted grounds.
White sand beach and blue warm sea.

I love the DR. Many years ago I worked there exploring for oil. The movie Havana was being filmed near columbus's tomb at the time. I really should go back soon!!!!
