Baux de Provence Jul 09, 2011
Baux is a medieval village with castle ruins situated in Alpilles, not far from Avignon. Fantastic spot for those into Middle Ages - the village is a monolite slice of history ready to be a scene for a feature film. Surroundings are beautiful, Baux is like a ship at sea, it is elevated over the landscape and the breathtaking views at your feet seem infinite. Make sure you take an audioguide when you climb the castle - it's available in many languages and is prepared by historians who are clearly interested in what they've got to say.

To get to Baux you'll need your own transport, as it is off the main route - but it's worth it!
