Batangan Baru Lagoon Tuaran Reviews
Batangan Baru Lagoon Feb 24, 2010
- Mengkabong Water Village (River Cruise & Discovery)
The calm water river cruise was relaxing and it will be good for family with young children and elderly people to enjoy the breeze among the thick mangrove trees in the swamp. We managed to catch two flower crabs using the "Bintul" traps where fish were used as bait. Along the way, six squids were purchased for our lunch.
It was already almost noon, we turn to the jetty to collect the kayaks for
the mangrove swamp paddling.
- BYOK Kayaking at the Lagoon
We met with a group of about twelve Taiwanese tourists including the guide
and tour leaders. Our encouragement to "try-out" the BYOK was really great
to them because it was their first. The very young and elderly tourists were
very happy and satisfied after trying out on the BYOKs from their talking to
each other and facial expressions.
Philip taught them the paddling process, York Han guided the tourists to
from shores to Philip and for me encouraging them to overcome the fear
factor into the BYOK and the basic holding of the paddles.
I hope this short time spent would create an awareness to these tourists to
begin back memories and spread by their words of mouth to their home town.
- Night Kayaking and Fireflies Watching.
It seemed to me that most of the fish and crabs comes out at night for their
food as the net casted and pulled up shown that more fish were caught by us
than in the day.
Eerie feeling came it after 7 pm, but when we met the fireflies came out it
was wonderful. Most of this insects love to stick together. The mosquitoes
found here are huge and they sucked our blood fast and painless! Hahaha.
