Spanning 45km X 25km, this small yet busy island of Indonesia has a population of close to a million people, and holds hundreds of multinational owned factories, towns and shopping centers. It is also the gateway to the Riau Islands. Located 20km from Singapore and 25km away from Johor in Malaysia, Batam is the island where new economic policies and ideas are tested out on before being adopted at a bigger scale. The few main cities in Batam are: Nagoya (Lubuk Baja), Nongsapura, Batam Centre, Sekupang, Jodoh and Telaga Punggur.
Even though the official language on the island is Indonesian, Chinese dialects and Mandarin is widely used due to the large Chinese population. Most tourists, from nearby Singapore, visit the island for her prostitution and illegal casinos. If none of these has of particular interest to you, Bintan would be a better choice for a resort vacation.

Batam, Indonesia, being one of the most accessible Indonesian islands from Singapore is definitely worth checking out. A day trip pac...

It was originally planned to be a kind of thanks giving, my brother & I decided to commerate our birthdays this way. I was happy that we managed to do this trip.
Basically we paid for the goats & we gave some money for the preparation of the feast, the village or orphanage provided the man power. Thus we wer...

My poor sister is a housewife, yet she was like a travel agent for 2 weeks..LOL!..I felt for her being a former travel agent, especially when your passengers are not sure whether they were coming or going....:)-
Anyway, it was a success, after loads of work from my sister. We...
