After the Paoay Church visit, we decided to go to Batac. There's only one reason why we went to this town: Marcos Mausoleum.The mausoleum is where the glass-entombed, preserved corpse of the deposed president Ferdinand Edralin Marcos is found. When one speaks of Northern Philippines, the province of Ilocos definitely comes into mind. A weekend holiday trip along with a busload of other local tourists took me to this part of the country where culture and nature thrives. I have quite a fascination for old and historic churches, the baroque-style Paoay Church, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site was on top of my list of must-sees. Overall, Ilocos has exceeded my expectations, this one of the best trips I’ve had in many years.
