Great offers Mar 02, 2009
I booked an excellent offer through weekenddesk.com at this hotel. Two nights including breakfast, one dinner, coffee and vlaai (regional cake) and a extensive shopping guidebook for 116 per person. Hotels often this offer great arrangements like this to fill vacant rooms, so if you know where to look you can get great deals.
The hotel itself was not as 'deluxe' as the name implies but very acceptable. Breakfast buffet was very good, the included dinner tasty, there's a relaxed separate smoking lounge with billiard table and the staff are helpful. Our room was a bit, no make that very cramped though and had a bathroom for disabled people, which was far from comfy and even dangerous; if you weren't disabled yet there was a big chance you'd be afterwards. Trying to shake-off a hangover on the seating beneath the shower the damn thing came off the wall and almost had me face down on the ground. Taking a shower resulted in a completely flooded bathroom because of inefficient placement of the floor tiles. I seriously doubt if the other rooms are identical though, so this is a minor complaint. The public toilets were rather smelly so that wasn't a good alternative. The beds were a bit too mobile for my taste and our corridor very thin-walled. Bring your earplugs. Lack of guests made the atmosphere a bit boring, but then again who wants to spend three days in a hotel with a great city center like Maastricht's only 5 minutes away. All in all, not the best four star hotel I've been in (room-wise) but the value for money makes up for a lot. |

Bastion Hotel Maastricht May 23, 2009
Again I went to Maastricht with my sweet mum ;)
Ofcourse we went there for shopping. This time we stayed at the Bastion Hotel. First time in this Hotel for us. Hotel was pretty nice. Good location, in the centre of Maastricht, 2 minutes walking from the "markt", a public square in Maastricht. In front of the Hotel there was a car park called "Sphinx", it cost 7 Euros a day. That's pretty cheap for Dutch standards ;) Hotel was just fine, except for the shower curtains (I hate it, jugh), and the pillows. They were like bouncing balls ;) I totally forgot to take a picture of the room :( But just imagine a standard small hotelroom. With a mini-bar and a locker. The Hotel also had a fitnes room, and a small sauna. Breakfast was fine and there were also free Dutch newspapers available :) I'll wonder which Hotel becomes next when I visit Maastricht again ;) |

Nice city hotel for a few nights Apr 17, 2009
The Bastion Hotel in Maastricht is a very good hotel to stay if your making a city trip to Maastricht. The location is excellent, only a 5 minute walk to the hard of the city. Friendly staff en a good restaurant makes this hotel a good place to spend a night or two.

Having experienced Eindhoven's Carnival the previous year, going into the weekend my plan was to go down to Maastricht, perhaps the biggest Carnival in Holland, for the main festivities day on Sunday. I had a bit of a disadvantage though, as t…… Carnival, 2005 - Maastricht |
