It was a lazy day for all of us. We woke up at noon time and had a ridiculously late brunch (or just lunch for other people but w/o breakfast). Feeling more like pests rather than visitors, Phydie and I helped in cleaning Ryan's flat, clearing out the rubbish on the floor (Phydie's shoes and …

The idea of going to Basel came out of short notice and more or less any means to go much further. I had been to Basel before and I really liked it there, so I thought I want to explore Switzerland a little more. The drive is usually about 4 hours long, but we left too late, around 7am instead…

Basel, Switzerland -› -› …
We visited the city centre of Basel once again, went inside the City Hall and later on we went to Riehen. A small town close to Basel. Here we visited the Fondation Beyeler. A beautiful modern building filled with art (Giacometti, Monet etc.).
It is not allowed to take photos inside.

At about 12 o'clock, we reached the parking field in a place outside Basel. From there it was about 20 minutes by tram to Basel central station.
Basel was just as orange as Bern in the weekend before. More than 100.000 people from Holland travelled to Basel to be part of the Dutch invasion. For th…

One of the fringe benefits of being a scientist is the
travel (it is certainly not the hours or the pay!). I had to meet a colleague
about some research, so off to Basel! My first taste of Switzerland was hotel
rooms and laboratories, but friends were able to show me around the nice
buildings a…

In the summer of 2008, my girlfriend and I made a road trip through four countries in central Europe. We saw a lot of big cities, smaller places and great nature. After 3 weeks we can look back at a great vacation!

I had decided to go to Basel and visit my brother; I had not been there in half a year so it was about time. I didn't want to drive the usual route because I had done that drive so many times. Therefore I drove north to Antwerp in the morning instead of driving to the south and Luxembourg which wou…

I have been visiting Basel numerous times over the last ten years since my brother moved there and I have come to like the city a lot now where I know my way round in it. Basel is probably one of the cities that you want to pass on the way to places like Luzern, Interlaken, Bern and so on. …

We arrived to Basle on Sunday 1st of June at 5:00 pm. We had to go to the SCOPE Fair for the set-up of our booth. The Fair was located in Uferstrasse, just in front of the Rhin.
We enjoyed a lot with the set-up and then we went to take a beer near to Messeplatz.
The next day I woke up very early in the morning and I went to Basle old city for enjoying of the landscapes from the Münster.

Find some pics from the Holland-invasion in Basle. That was the quarter-final game between Holland and Russia. The city was in state of emergency :-)

My hometown, also called the Cultural Capital of Switzerland. Small but nice city at the German and French borders. Best place to visit: the area close to the Rhine river, the Basel Cathedral and the red city hall :)
