Costing just NZ$27 per night for a 6 sharing dorm room and centrally located on Cathedral Square, base Backpackers in a perfect example of what a great hostel should be.

It is immaculate throughout, has a 24 hour reception with a travel desk, all the rooms have a lockable luggage locker, the large kitchen & dining area includes a balcony and two barbecues, the large (SKY) TV lounge has plenty of sofas and beanbags and the internet and wifi room (provided by Global Gossip for NZ$1 per 15 minutes) has plenty of PC’s which includes headsets and cameras for Skype.

On the ground floor is the ‘Saints and Sinners’ bar which has special offers every night and does a NZ$7 all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet every morning.

A great hostel that I can highly recommend.

I'm staying at "Base Backpackers" hostel right in the center of the city. I don't think you could get a better location. It is right beside the big cathedral. I spent the day wandering around the city center. I explored in the cathedral… Hiya Everyone!
