Eternal Love on Sant Jordi Jul 14, 2017
Every year on April the 23rd in Barcelona is a celebration called The Day of the Book. It is the most romantic day of the year in the Catalonian capital, when lovers exchange presents: a boy gives a rose to a girl and the girl gives a book to the boy. The rose tradition comes from the old legend of Saint George( Sant Jordi in Catalonian) saving a princess from a dragon. A rose is a symbol of love and books is a symbol of eternity. The tradition to exchange a book comes from a celebration of the anniversary of the death of the world famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
