The next morning I got up early (at 8) took a shower and went to the Aquarium. To get there I had to cross the bridge in the harbour. The area overthere was very nice. It had a nice shoppingcentre and it took my quite a while to get across the bridge since it was so pretty there! I took a lot of pictures of the harbour and the boats as u can see. It was still very quiet everywhere because it was early so everything was very peaceful. I sat on the bridge for a while and after that I went to se...

After nearly nine months in Barcelona, I think that my lifestyle has become more Spanish than that of many Spaniards. I spend much of my day basically passing time between meals. Quite often, but not always, I'll eat five meals a day. These are: 1) desayuno (breakfast): This is what I eat after I first get up in the morning (around 8 am). For me, it's usually a cup of yogurt and a small pastry, accompanied by water or juice. I like to walk along the beach in the...

Monday in Spain,Got up at the reasonable hour of 10am today, the weather didn't look promising so I figured why rush out of the house? Had an authentic "Spanish Coffee" (I'm calling it that because I made it in Spain) which consisted of condensed milk, as there was none of the fresh vairety in the house, and instant coffee powder and hot water.... not too bad but I'm not addicted. Then, lured by the family's gorgeous AppleMac PC, I started watching a movie called Into The Wild (which I haven'...

After going to bed late last night, it was good to sleep in today.  Our plan for the day was to visit La Sagrada Familia and to ride the cable car to Mont Juïc.    We took metro from our hotel to Sagrada Familia.  It’s a Saturday morning, and the tourists are already out in full force.  The sky is grey today, and it didn’t make a great backdrop for photos of the cathedral.  La Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882, and of course, scaffold...

La Rambla was filled with street performance and this guy on one hand was one of many that performed for a lot of people who stood around watching with smiles and amazments. My son was taking lots of photos of most of them haha i think i might have about a 100 photos of just acrobats jumping around lol...still not all of it was impressive and some of it was just a waste of my sight but some people enjoy and like this stuff so its just a matter of having different taste in "art":)

Back in Barcelona, Betty was eagerly awaiting my arrival. She really missed me, she said, and I missed her too. So I went to Llavaneras with her that day to spend some final time together. She made arroz negro (rice with octopus ink) for lunch and taught me how to make gazpacho, accompanied by her famous sangría. She got a little emotional as we ate lunch and talked and it just broke my heart. She is the most incredible person I've met and I know that she is sincerely going to miss me. ...

My almost weeklong trip to Barcelona, sadly during the off season, but still great! Wish I could have used Spanish more, but they don't speak it as much there! :-P The dates are also screwed up in this album, I will try and fix that when I can get to it.

I had about 6 hours left in Barcelona.  I hadn’t made it to the Picasso Museum yet, so that was the first order of business.  I am not a huge Picasso fan, but I did enjoy seeing a bit of his earlier works and thought the way the museum was organized really helped facilitate seeing the progression of his style.  I also really enjoyed the “Las Meninas” temporary exhibit going on right now, which detailed the many artists who have done copies of the painting. After the muse...
