Barcelona Spain Mar 31, 2017
I arrived in Barcelona on my first visit at Barcelona Sants rail station, the main station. Many times since, also arrived once at Barcelona Franca rail station, not far from Columbus Column at the bottom of La Ramblas. Barcelona is well served by Air.--In 2017 a direct train from Paris France arrives at Barcelona Sants in six and a half hours.---Barcelona has a good modern Metro system.--Las Rambla is the main street crowded with tourist.--Another famous street is Passeig De Gracia great for shopping.--The Columbus column at the sea end of La Rambla can be climbed for the view,60m high with a bronze statute of Columbus on top. --Parc Guell is a Gaudi fantasy..--The Sagrada Familia basilica construction started in 1882, Gaudi took over in 1883.Building continues today, and is on UNESCO heritage list.-- A tip is take a Hop-on-Hop-Bus tour early in your stay to get to know the city.---There are many hotels in Barcelona from 5 star to No star.--A posh hotel is above Barcelona Sants station.--- I visited Camp Nov stadium the home of Barcelona football club, great tour round inside the ground ,dressing room, trophy room, press room, treatment room etc.--Barcelona has plenty to see,but is handy for trips to Tarragona, Sitges, Salou, Montserrat etc.-- I have used Barcelona has a visit and has a stopover to other places in Spain.
