Barberton Vacation Guide

Baberton was built during the South African gold rush that took place towards the end of the 19th century. It is located in the De Kaap Valley, in the Mpumalanga Province (previously Eastern Transvaal), where some of the oldest rocks in the world can be found.

As one would expect from a gold rush mining town, a number of museums and historic buildings can be visited in Baberton. Being located at the foot of the mountains along the border with Swaziland, it is also a great place for outdoor activities such as hiking or paragliding.
