Bar Ponte Vecchio Florence Reviews
Acceptable, standard range Oct 14, 2010
Location - right at the heart of the tourist centre, just off the Ponte Vecchio bridge. There are a few seats and tables located outside for those who just don’t want to grab an ice cream and go.
Ice cream - basic range of flavours which are more traditional and less fancy compared to other competitors. Temperature could be a little bit better too - it was a bit too cold and took a little longer to melt. The taste was just slightly too synthetic and sweet.
Customer service - the staff were polite and friendly but were basic servers rather than people with a true passion for ice cream. For sure, many places in Italy won’t give you wonderful recommendations about the best combination of flavours, but this attitude was more obvious than at other places I visited.
Price - in general, about 50 cents cheaper than the rest of the competition nearby.
Overall - this was a nice enough place to have ice cream. A few grumbles but these weren’t major. If you’re after a fancier and more authentic treat, you might want to hang on for another place. However, this is still a good and economical place to get decent ice cream, and in a country of excellent ice cream, I might just be judging this place too harshly!
