Although you get the main cathedral in Padua, the circular building towards the side of it is the baptistery. At the time of visiting, it cost 2 or 3 Euros to get in (the adjoining cathedral is free admission) and is well worth the money. While the cathedral has been revised three times during its lifetime, the medieval origins of the baptistery have remained intact. Inside, the frescoes painted by Giusto de' Menabuoi in the fourteenth century are rather special. Christ and the apostles are there of course, and the depictions are from key scenes in the bible. Remarkably well preserved and with astonishing detail and beautiful colours, this is a real highlight and an underestimated gem of Padua. Photography is prohibited inside, but nonetheless, this site is well worth going to see!
