A beautiful, quiet temple on the north end Jul 29, 2013
The Bao'an Temple is larger and quieter than the Longshan Temple in the southern end of the city. In my opinion, the Bao'an Temple was more worth the visit. The temple grounds also have a nice tree-shaded garden where you can sit down and rest your feet. The garden is complete with a koi pond with a very colorful dragon fountain and lots of small statues in and around the gates. It's located right next to the Confucius Temple, so you can visit both in the same trip (except on Monday, when the Confucius Temple is closed.) If you want to learn more about the temple, they offer free brochures in English just inside the entrance on the left. All in all, I highly recommend it. If you like the hubbub of the Longshan temple, more power to you, but I enjoyed more the quiet contemplation I found at Bao'an!
