A river of world renowned masterpieces Dec 04, 2012
My family lived in Rennes, France from 1992-1994 and I returned to France for 2 years of service from 1997-1999. During this time, I was lucky enough to visit the sites along this river multiple times.

La Seine is the lifeblood of the city and many important monuments are built along it, including Notre Dame and the Sainte Chapelle, Louvre, Palais de l'lnstitut, Les Invalides, Place de la Concorde, École Militaire, La Monnaie (Mint), Grand Palais des Champs Elysées, Eiffel Tower and Palais de Chaillot.

Sadly, in my many trips, the only monument of those listed above that I have actually entered is the Eiffel Tower. I have seen the rest from the outside and they are fantastic!

The Eiffel Tower grows on you as you visit it more. This even happened to the French. At first, popular opinion was against it but as time passed, it became the landmark everyone loved.

Cruise on the River, Views along the Banks May 12, 2010
Seine is a major river and commercial waterway that supports a recreational cruise in Paris. The banks of Rive Gauche and Rive Droite form part of the river and made it on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites in France. It is also a favorite place for people who want to unwind, hang up and stroll, a perfect place to relax while watching the ship rolling by.

Cruising on the other hand is an alternative way to see the beauty of Paris without having a stressful and tiresome walk. It is really a great adventure traversing along the river, passing by the banks while seeing some of Paris' famous attractions (Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Pont Neuf, Orsay Museum, Les Invalides, etc). Not to forget are the number of bridges that span across the river, one of them being Alexander III bridge. The glittering lights of Eiffel Tower is also a daunting experience when cruising at dusk.

Cruising is open daily. Several tour operators with different packages are available to choose from. There are those that offered meals on board. There are boats that are glass enclosed, there are those with open deck. (i would suggest Bateaux Mouches cruise line because the boat has a large and spacious open deck at the top level, giving a perfect and unobstructed view of the entire scene all along the way.

It's really an awesome adventure. Don't miss it!!!
