Main train station Feb 02, 2018
Banja Luka has a main station and it serves for international rides and all domestic lines along with other Banja Luka train stations: Incel, Vrbanja, and Zalužani. It is located at the main bus station (Neobus) and next to the bus lines for urban and suburban Banja Luka bus lines. The good starting point to get to know with Banja Luka. From this area, you can complete your Banja Luka itinerary with combined transportation: train, bus, and taxi.

The main train station Banja Luka is very big and wide building. It constructed of steel, black window glass and classic concrete and tiles as I see this construction. It has a three levels. The ground floor is the main level and it is used as the main station for passengers, you must walk through on arriving and departing from Banja Luka by train. There is also ticket offices, several windows shops, and offices.

The upper floor is built for restaurant Željo but it closed for some time for an indefinite. I hope it would change soon. Underground is used for a public toilet. It is paid, not sure how much cost it. It is probably 1 KM or BAM. You can be used only local currency as for other services too: tickets and products on available shops.

Not sure for luggage storage. I didn't find it, but there is one on the main bus station.

It is open non-stop all year long. On the main facade on both side are clocks. Trains are arranged on two tracks.

They are connected by an underpass. It is recommended to always use when needed. The enter space of train station is worm and illuminated with benches in and out of the building. It has an interesting architecture decoration within the building.

I used trains always and feel safe here. It is very comfortable, often and cheap means of transport. In fact, trains within the country are cheaper than bus transport. Use official website Railway of Republika Srpska (no English version) under section "Red vožnje". Banja Luka has two domestic lines: up to north to Prijedor-Novi Grad (Bosanski Novi)-Dobrljin and up to south Doboj-Sarajevo and the international line: Zagreb-Sarajevo and all vice verse. Timetables are indicated on main entrances of the main train station. And check on daily papers, online resources or touristic office of Banja Luka.

Address: Prote Nikole Kostića bb, about 2-3 km from city center.

Good connection with it with urban bus lines (max 10 minutes) or walking (about 25 minutes).

NB: It is not allowed to take a photo indoor and on tracks without special notice from management. I am a member of Photo club Doboj and I take photos in addition to this review on an official trip in the organization of Railways of Republika Srpska.
