Windy Day in Ilocos Norte.... Jun 07, 2009
My first visit in Ilocos Norte, Philippines was last Holy Week 2009. It was exciting and out of this world. One of the attractions I visited was the giant windmills in Bangui, it was awesome!!! you can take a ride from a local bus or jeepney from Laoag to get there. You will be amazed of the giant windmills, the view was great, the feeling..... well it just draws the child within you. It was a cool attraction I recommend, you drop by these amazing structures. The waves crushing, the gusts of wind... that'a one way of enjoying life on the road.

Close Encounter with the Windmills of Bangui Apr 27, 2007
The 15 windmills of Bangui are visible from the highway on the way to Pagudpud. We've been told that seeing it from afar is not enough. One was to get close to appreciate these wonderful structures. And that we did the very next day. Hiring a tricycle from our resort to the windmills took about an hour (by private of course travel time can be cut in half). As we neared the windmills, they got bigger and better. By the time we reached the beach, we were greeted by this humongous white structure - all 70 meters of it. I can't help but be at awe at the windmill... and the other one... and the other one... 15 of them lined up on the shore.

The tricycle driver, who also served as our tour guide told us that the windmills were built by the NorthWind Power Development Corporation to provide power to the surrounding villages. Each windmill is 70 meters high, and its blades are 41 meters long. Truly a sight to behold!

We stayed there for an hour simply enjoying the giants.
