Bangkoksong Reviews
A sanctuary in Bangkok May 12, 2008
Bangkoksong is run by a gay couple..a Canadian (Randall) and his Thai partner (Joe) who invariably very patiently writing down all the direction in Thai to facilitate the taxi driver to bring us to our destination. The proprietor is very kind to offer us vegetarian dinner. Just like a hotel, you get fresh towels daily, unlimited coffee/tea/sugar, hot-shower, air-conditioned, TV/DVD, oven, freezer ...just like home. It is situated not far from the heart of Bangkok Silom, but in a tucked away alley..very quite, opposite a Baptist School with upscale apartments surrounding it..so..not dinghy at all. Lots of cheap and delicious local food just a step away, 7/11 and a wet market..all less than 10 mins walk.

The most memorable part of the night was when the whole bar started to sing Binky, the Birthday Song. And it was really funny because a room full of people were singing her that song and she didn't know anyone at all - I have to admit I missed the half of the song because I was at the little boy's room… Binky's Birthday in Bangkok |

The name was DOS, stands for Destination Of Satisfaction, offering live band singing top fourty songs. We were seated on the corner, and served with JackD Cola, however I dont feel like drinking either singing, because the band offer us to jam. One of Naam's friend was singing a popular Thai song on stage with the band. It was one cute… Thailand Trip - Day 1 |

My expectations of cover bands are never high as they do their best to cover the melodies and keys of a song, but rarely do the songs any justice. But these guys were great. We had so much fun, and what started with an empty bar soon filled with tourists. They performed until 1am before another band took over, and that was our queue to leave… Day 2: Of closed off temples and a rainy afternoon... sigh.... |
