I love this place..

Ok, so being a foodie, I was always going to love Bangkok.  But I wasn't quite prepared for just how much. Everything about it rocked.  From the cheap knockoff markets, to the huge malls, to the boutique stores to the culture and historical sites - what a fabulous place. My main reason for visiting was work, but I managed to get out and about in the evenings and on a couple of afternoons. It was a bit too hot and muggy to go walking…

*This entry is backdated*The train ride back to Bangkok was pretty fun. We met up with a bunch of other Aussies there, and just drank all night. Once we were back in Bangkok, we went to visit the Grand Palace. This time around, they were reconstructing certain parts of it. It didnt bother us too much though, as it still looked great. We also visited The Reclining Buddha, which was really good. That night most of us said our goodbyes, and got our flights back to Australia.

San Francisco to Bangkok After a nice brunch of eggs with mushrooms and ham, Regina and I made a dash to Powell Bart so we could catch the 11:05 train to SFO. Checked in at the elite status line baby! Woo! I knew flying to the Midwest every week for 4 months would pay off. Spent the first leg of my flight poring over my guidebook (Guide to Southeast Asia) that I borrowed from the library and watching the 70+ yr old Japanese couple next to me play video games on Northwest's media system on the…

Thailand....sweet
posted by:

The last 10 days have been a bit of a blur.  SO AWESOME though!  In Koh Phan-Ngan, My-Van and I met a group of really nice, fun Brits travelling around thailand in the same direction as us....Ben, Geoff and Katie, and the twins.  Ben and I ended up spending quite a bit of time together and we all ended up heading off in the same direction and travelling together for the rest of the trip.  Koh Phan Ngang was filled with parties on the beach and movies and more beach.  …

Hulinaa
posted by:
May 28, 2008 - Nov 12, 2008
Lento meni todella hyvin. Hetken lepailyn jalkeen lahdettiin kohti reissaajien keskittymaa Khao San Roadia. Mieleton hulina ja kaikkea on tarjolla mita ihminen vaan tarvitsee. Hetken siina pallistelimme ja soimme kunnes joku tuli tar…

One Night in Bangkok and the Worlds your Oyster...

Well, what a day… It's still Sunday, but today feels like it went forever (in a good way!!!) Had to get up real early, cos we had to make the massive trek back to the airport… 20 min drive to the port, 15 min boat rise, then an hour and a half trip in a van cramped in with way too many other people. We were pretty much sitting half on our luggage and half in each others laps… Then, hour flight back to Manila. All worth it though, it might be a little out of the way, but Borocay is such …

Thailand -› Bangkok, Thailand -› ...
In an internet Cafe/Coffee place I'm dressed in tattered jean shorts and a tank top. A nice lady comes over the help me (thinking I'm down and out of luck and needed some help or some money). Little did she know these were my jewelry shopping clothes so I can get the best price. She had such a good soul we chatted for a while and went out for noodles nearby. I kept directing the conversation to Cambodia (I was due to go there sometime during my visit just to do it). I asked her to join me. Sh…

One more whirl around Bangkok before heading home.  But this time, we did it with a bit more flash.I met up with Rod in Bangkok and we decided to go all out.  Usually, as a backpacker I would try to get the cheapest place on Khao San in order to stretch that baht a little farther.  This time we thought we'd spluge seeing that it was the end of our trip and a little comfort was muchly deserved.  Villa Cha Cha was supremely wonderful.  When going from a 180 baht closet …

Hola, Ciao, Servus, Sallut, Sawadee Ka, Hey there,I am finally at the end of my one month time off in South East Asia and there is only one simple conclusion: It's been great!I visited three countries, flew internationally five times, took one overnight train, several exhausting 5hrs + bus journeys, various means of public transport including metro, the Maglev train (at 431 km/h the fastest...), endless taxi rides, romantic boat trips, bamboo rafts, Tuk Tuks in all kind of forms, elephants (?…

I have arrived back in Thailand, and the year is 2549!It is true... but not because I have somehow time-warped 543 years into the future. The Thai calendar is based on the death of Buddha, whereas we base our calendar on the death of Jesus Christ. Please, don't get me started on the whole subject of imposing religious values on the rest of the world by referring to our calendar as "AD: After Death of Jesus" instead of using something non-religious like "CE: Common Era"). My "buddy…
