We got into Bangkok last night around 11:30pm, after something like 24 hours of travelling. Japan Airlines has pretty good meals on their flights - way better than I was expecting. After overpaying for a taxi from the airport, we checked into a guest house on Khao San Road, the backpacker district on Bangkok. We went out for a few late night drinks and walked around the explore the area before crashing. It's damn hot and humid here. The showers are cold, but that's just fine. Kinda weird - th...

Back in Bangkok, my first visit with Ole. Both of us had been around in Thailand before, but it's different with somone else, it felt just great. Just spendt a few days shopping around for some music and shirts, nothing special really.
Besides - I found the flower bus again! 1,5 years later, and flower bus was still there! Those of you who have seen my blog from 2005 might have spotted it, outside the math place. Oh, I just had to take a picture of it again. OMG!

Our last day in Bangkok :( Got a taxi to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, at 304m the tallest building in Bangkok. Bought tickets and then got lift up to 77th floor - the observation deck, but indoor. There were some old tuk - tuks from the past, and a display with an amusing sign - see pic! We then took the stairs to the very top (scary aliens on the stairway) - the outdoor observation deck. This was really amazing (prob not so good if you are scared of heights)...

In order to get the cheapest ticket possible from Chiang Mai to Stockholm I was required to take what you might call a rather indirect route. In the end the whole trip took me 72 hours, yes, that's 3 FULL days... but I'll get to that bit in Frankfurt. :) The first part of my trip was going from Chiang Mai to Bangkok to catch my international flight, the first leg which went to Dubai. A friend of mine was teaching at a university in Bangkok at the time and I hadn't seen him ages so I decided t...

Arrived into Bangkok after quite a bumpy ride and thankfully found our hostel and a room quite easily. It was raining when we arrived but still 30 degrees! Luckily our room has air conditioning.

So I didn't DARE go shopping today considering my vast quantity of luggage already, so instead I went to the opticians and bought some new glasses as I lost mine in Laos on the island with 4 hrs of electricity. I looked for an email address to contact them - HA! Unlikely... Then I just hung out on Rambuttri Sol, trying to get in as much sticky rice and mango as possible before I leave Thailand and this delicious dish behind indefinitely. The taxi ride left a bitter taste in my mouth for my la...

Well, what a day… It's still Sunday, but today feels like it went forever (in a good way!!!) Had to get up real early, cos we had to make the massive trek back to the airport… 20 min drive to the port, 15 min boat rise, then an hour and a half trip in a van cramped in with way too many other people. We were pretty much sitting half on our luggage and half in each others laps… Then, hour flight back to Manila. All worth it though, it might be a little out of the way, but Borocay is such ...

In an internet Cafe/Coffee place I'm dressed in tattered jean shorts and a tank top. A nice lady comes over the help me (thinking I'm down and out of luck and needed some help or some money). Little did she know these were my jewelry shopping clothes so I can get the best price. She had such a good soul we chatted for a while and went out for noodles nearby. I kept directing the conversation to Cambodia (I was due to go there sometime during my visit just to do it). I asked her to join me. Sh...

Little sleep last night, as it's impossible to get the a/c level right. It's great when you first get in, sweating from a 20 metre walk from taxi to hostel room, but at about 3AM, the lack of a duvet means getting up and turning the a/c off...and by 8AM you're boiling again! We check out after breakfast, and this place isn't too bad. I mean, the location's a bit of a way out, there's no real towels or duvets, and you need your own locks for the doors. To be honest, this is how I thought we wo...

*This entry is backdated*The train ride back to Bangkok was pretty fun. We met up with a bunch of other Aussies there, and just drank all night. Once we were back in Bangkok, we went to visit the Grand Palace. This time around, they were reconstructing certain parts of it. It didnt bother us too much though, as it still looked great. We also visited The Reclining Buddha, which was really good. That night most of us said our goodbyes, and got our flights back to Australia.
