First Day: Mall-hopping and eating phad thai in Khao San road

It was our third day in Bangkok. Time was running so fast. We again woke up at 5:00 AM and ate our breakfast at 6:15 AM. At 7:15 AM, Sam called us in our room to inform that he was already downstairs. So there we left the hotel five minutes later. Since it was still early in the morning, going to the floating market was hassle-free but it took us 1 hour to get there. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is already outside Bangkok. It was 8:20 AM or exactly one hour when Mr. Sam parked his car in ...

First day of the trip

Our first day ont he boat was very relaxing.  We hung out in the sun, read our books, played ping pong, and explored the boat a bit.  Tonight was formal night so I wore my suit and we had our picture taken by the ship photographers.  If it's a good shot I'm sure we'll get it and I'll try and post it.  For dinner I tried Salmon rowe (fish eggs) which was suprisingly good.  A bit salty.  The rest of dinner was great too.  Lobster bisque, a salad, and veal farf...

I slept lovely last night and enjoyed breakfast just as much as the smooth airco in the hotel room. Temperatures are very warm and the sky is blue, things couldn't have been nicer. We leave for the flower and vegetable market, which I like a lot for the same reasons as I liked China Town: there are many odd things to see, many colors and smells and tastes and people. We have a delicious pancake made of cocos at one of the stalls, while strolling through the buzzy morning atmosphere. To bad fl...

Sleep: Good. Waking up: A bit annoyed... Every morning, I can feel Eka waking up before me but she would only get up and rush to the bathroom when she hears my phone alarm and i am just about to get up myself. And then I would be left in my bed, disturbed from sleep and from my dream about my then boyfriend Kyle Patrick.  I've only known him for not more than a week but I was already deeply in love with him that I would play his video on my camera all morning wasting half of my battery...

The Last SupperAfter returning from Ayutthaya, I rejoined the group for a farewell dinner at restaurant around the corner from Khao San. I told the group about my foray into the world of solo travel and they shared stories about the slow boat from Luang Prabang to Thailand. Most of them thought the first day was nice and relaxing but the second day was boring and long. After dinner, Cat and I headed to Khao San Road which was even more busy than the first night I arrived in Bangkok. I th...

Tonight after dinner I got ice cream from a place called Amaltery.  They serve what they call adult ice cream, meaning that most of their flavors have a 5% alcohol content.  All of the flavors are named after the cocktail that the ice cream is flavored like.  They have a wide assortment everything from Brandy Alexander, to Mohito, to White Russian.  I tried a couple flavors and must say it was pretty good. After the alcoholic ice cream, I went to see the Bourne Ultimatum ...

Day 1 of the RTW trip!

After arriving in Bangkok after our 12 hour train ride from Surrathani, we were wrecked. The train journey was just like the last trip, noisy rattly, and not that much sleep. Well we got a little more sleep than we thought we would, but that might be down to the fact that we both had 2 big bottles of Singha in us! The attendant on the train must of been trying to get Caroline drunk or something because every time he passed he was trying to open up 2 more beers for us.   We arrived into...

Before I start let me say something about myself: I'm one of those guys that can detect the most subtle differences but I never see something obvious.  Read this entry and you will know why I'm saying this. This morning I wake up a little bit late,  knock at Dani's and Kim's rooms, they are here! Yesterday I lost them, he he. Continental Breakfast! There's a week that I didn't have one. GRAND PALACE, WAT ARUN, WAT PO! Kim wakes up too late, Dani prefers to stay at ...

Boarding a cruise ship is not as easy as it looks on the Love Boat. Since this is my first cruise, and since I was an avid watcher of the Love Boat and since we are sailing Princess Cruises, all of my references are to the show! We do not have a bartender named Isaac. :) From Bangkok we had to get to the port of Laem Chabang, which is 2 hours away. We took the shuttle and enjoyed seeing some of the Thai countryside. Once at the port it was total chaos. Even though boarding begins at 11 and ...

I was going to meet my friend Mirko as soon as we landed so I got my phone and called him up, searched every waiting area on every floor until I found him. No, scratch that. Luckily he found me even if I was at the wrong floor. Was this an indication that something’s gonna go wrong today? Well, hang in there and wait...I went with Mirko to Sukhumvit, Wayne went to Khaosarn alone but we agreed to meet each other for a drinking session right after dinner. ;) We introduced Mirko to the Khaosan...
