Nice setting for lunch not great value for dinner Sep 08, 2013
While some restaurants have long differentiated between lunch and dinner menus (and prices) the range of restaurants doing this seems to have increased markedly in Darwin in recent times. This restaurant is no exception. Bangkok Hut offers a selection of around about 25 lunch meals for $15 and a much wider selection of dinners most of which are in the $22-$27 range (vegetarian, noodle and rice dishes are cheaper $16-$18). The restaurant presents well with nice tables, clean crockery and cutlery and attentive service. However, while the food is presented well it simply doesn't excite being very standard thai fare - not too dissimilar from what you could get freshly made at a food court. This may be perfectly fine for lunch as the setting is much nicer than a food court however there appears little to justify the high prices for dinner offerings. The dishes are well sized although the rice servings for two are on the small side. This is the sort of place I would be quite happy to eat at with others but unlikely to go there of my own volition.
