Friday 7/20/07I didn't sleep at all last night. I was up late putting music on my iPod, packing & unpacking, eliminating extras from my luggage thatwould weigh me down, & repacking. My backpack is still heavier than I'd prefer, but I'm down to basics. I have my heavy-duty waterproof hiking boots & a pair of merrell hiking sandals my mom gave me, 10 pairs of socks & underwear, 1 pair of super-lightweight 3/4 length pants, 2 t-shirts w/sleeves, 1 pair of shorts, 1 lo...

Me and my friends always go for weekend rides on our motorbikes. This
time we went to Devarayandurga. It's 70 kms far from Bangalore.
well there is no plces to stay in and around deverayandurga, atleast i
haven't seen one. Travellers can stay in Bangalore and go to
Devarayndurga and come back to bangalore in the evening, thats the best
i can tell. You will get some snacks and water in there. You won't get
a good restaurent there. If you are going to Davarayandurga, make sure
to bring...

From Chennai it took only a (surprisingly hassle free) overnight busride to Bangalore, where I ended up at the house of Ram and Esha. Still a bit exhausted from the previous days of travelling around I slowed my pace a bit in bangalore. The second day I payed a trip to Mysore, a nearby town (still 3 hrs by bus) which has a beautifull palace and some nice bazaars to wander around. The palace was huge and very beautifull and the bazaar lively and busteling. The next day I met up with Shrimoyee,...

India is like a world within a world. The diversity is amazing - different races, languages, climates, food all in one country.

We made the mistake of flying into Chennai which was awful then compounded our mistake by heading south to Mamallapurum then Pondicherry before ending up stuck in Madurai with nothing but horrendous travel options to get out so we stumped up the cash for a flight to Goa. Much nicer than Tamil Nadu but it's still India!! We spent just over a week killing time around Goa before a flight to Delhi to count down the hours before getting the hell out of Dodge.

Landed in Bangalore on time at about midnight... didn't get out of the airport until 0200. :( Funny thing though.. my suitcase had a BIG white X on it when it came out. and when i rolled thru customs i was stopped and asked to go to the counter to have my bags checked. I didn't have a problem with this..as i wasn't smuggling any thing. But the customs guy just asked what i had in the suitcase.. I offered to open it for him and he said no.. and just asked again what i had in the suitcase.. so ...
