Bamboo Garden Stockholm Reviews
Where they're always glad you came... Nov 29, 2008
So you go to Sweden and think 'well, I'd like to try the local cuisine', but somehow you always end up in a Chinese restaurant. You know how it is. You can't really find something 'local' and you're starting to get hungry and well, that Lebanese place looked interesting but they didn't have a menu outside and even though you are adventurous, you're not THAT adventurous and then there is this Chinese joint and you think 'well... Chinese sounds good, doesn't it?'
Ofcourse it does. And count your lucky stars you've found Bamboo Garden. Yes, sir!
As soon as you enter, the owner, an amiable little chap, will greet you like you are the prodigal son (or daughter) he hasn't seen in years, presumably ask you about your offspring, but, noticing the bewildered look on your face (on account of you not understanding a bloody thing he's saying) will switch to English, say "table for 2?", usher you to a neatly set table, sit you down, give you a menu, slap you on the back, shout 'wunderbar!' and bugger off.
You will then get up again and start removing hat, gloves, jacket, scarf, extra sweater, possibly thermal underwear, sit down again and consult the menu, which is in Swedish and English.
Your order will arrive faster than a speeding Chinese restaurant owner and will be outstanding. You will hardly have the time to enjoy your surroundings: the painted silk, the statues, the dragons,... It's like Lara Croft's treasure room after her recent rampage through the far east... or her local Chinese supermarket. It is, in fact, all plastic and kitsch and you know that, but you don't mind, because it adds to the atmosphere and did I mention the food is SO good!
And after you've paid, they will all say goodbye to you and 'come again' and you'll find yourself outside in the blistering Stockholm cold and wonder "What the f*** just happened?!?"
