Stayed at this little gem of an hotel a couple of times and whilst its close to the 'big smoke' of Belfast its a world apart and right on the Irish Sea. The trick is to secure a seafront room or better still one of the tower house castle rooms. This hotel is the only 17th century hotel still used as a residence today in Northern Ireland. Dining is wholesome and uncomplicated and the staff are genuinely kind and enthusiastic. About 20 miles north east of Belfast is is about 30 minutes drive or 45 minutes by bus. The hotel is ideally situated to explore the beauty of the nine Glens of Antrim with Glenarm only 10 miles north. This is not the Ritz, but once you get into the groove its a wonderful old building in a spectacular location on the doorstep to the whole of Northern ireland. Well worth a stay and rates are negotiable. Also just found out that the hotel got a recent €3million refit and was awarded its forth star late in 2007.
