Ballard Seattle Reviews
Dec 02, 2006
Ballard is an interesting neighbourhood of Seattle. It used to be a Norwegian fishing village, but has long since been incorporated into Seattle. Tere are still lots of people with Scandinavian descent that live there, and the architecture is more of a Nordic style.
The neighbourhood is interesting to walk too, there are nice gardens by the lochs, and a fish ladder for spawning salmon in season.
The Nordic Heritage Museum is pretty much full of kitsch and old tools, but there were some interesting parts to it, especially if you are interested to in the experience of immigrants moving to America or how immigration shaped American culture.
Ballard is well worth a day if you are in Settle for awhile.
