Balikpapan is a town located on the Indonesian part of Borneo. Balikpapan is the center of industry and commerce in the province that the city is glowing with better infrastructure that other towns in Kalimantan Timur. There are a wide variety of hotels, from modest to resort-like ones.
Kalimantan is known for the Kutai culture. Kutai was an ancient Hindu kingdom used to thrive on Borneo. Today, people can still see the influence of Kutai culture through arts and craftsmanship.
