Baked by Melissa New York Reviews
Mini Cupcakes in Manhattan May 10, 2011
In New York City, a local bakery chain offers tiny cupcakes with enormous taste. Baked by Melissa offers unusual flavors that are deliciously rich. With options like cookies and cream, smores, chocolate chip pancake, peanut butter and jelly, cookie dough or strawberry as examples, visitors who love desserts can satisfy a cupcake craving.
Sizes are small (about the size of a large coin or chocolate truffle) but the taste is packed with flavor. I personally loved the mint chocolate chip and strawberry cupcakes, but every cupcake I tried was delicious. The chocolate cupcakes, for instance, taste similar to chocolate mousse and are extremely filling.
The location I visited was just outside Grand Central Station, but this chain has four shops scattered around Manhattan. This shop glistens with white walls and glass, but unfortunately, cupcakes must be ordered to go, as there is no place to sit.
The mini cupcakes are packaged in small boxes, and look similarly to a box of chocolates. These are gourmet cupcakes at their best.
I would comment that the price of these cupcakes is not cheap. Three cupcakes run $3.00, a half dozen run $5.50 and a dozen cost $10.00. These cupcakes are addicting, however, and I ate my share before even getting on the subway.
If you are visiting Manhattan, Baked by Melissa offers small servings with a fantastic taste. The size and richness of the cupcakes are unique and visitors will love the flavoring. The only downside is the price.
