A Whole Area Dedicated To Drinking Feb 18, 2009
It is dirty, it is seedy and scummy but it is the place to be for pre-drinks to kickstart a dirt-cheap night out. The only question is, can you handle it?
All you need to do is simply traipse and zig-zag down the little alleyways of Bairro Alto, find a random scungy-looking bar, walk in and order a round of shits. They should cost max 2 euros. I would recommend the shots Kalishnikov (vodka & absinthe with lemon & sugar) or a sex bomb (don't know what's inside but it was killer). Chasers and spirits tend to cost more (4-6 euro), but who needs that when you get 1 euro shots? Part of the Portugal '09 baby! travel blog |

Take elevator Santa Justa. It's an old building designed… Baixa, Bairro Alto and Alfama |

…skewers of monkfish and shrimp at Pap' Açorda, a hidden culinary treasure on an understated street in the shabby-chic neighborhood Bairro Alto (Rua de Atalaia). SEE Igreja de São Domingos, a dilapidated but impressive church where autos-da-fé - or judgments - were handed down during the Portuguese Inquisition (Largos de São Domingos). RIDE one of the bright yellow, rickety trams through the narrow… 4 Hours in Lisbon |
