Bad Hesselingen Meppel Reviews
Active indoor fun for everyone Dec 26, 2008
Originally Bad Hesselingen was a swimming pool and not much more than that. I remember going there for school swimming in the outdoor pool which was an Olympic sized pool back in the 70's. Unfortunately this was closed for expansion of the nearby industrial estate, and there is only a small outdoor pool now. However, the indoor pool changed too, and this was for the better. There is a tiny baby pool, a toddler pool with a slide, and a larger pool with several slides, a jacuzzi area and a water rapid. There is also a seperate jacuzzi which is a little warmer than the main pool and a big slide which is partly outside. There is also a seperate 25 meter indoor pool which is often used for swimming lessons but is open to the general public at specific times.
Other facilities include a sauna and sunbeds.
The changing areas are quite good, as there are larger cubicles for people with children or wheelchairs. There are also baby changing facilities. There are lockers for your clothes which you need a 10 cent coin for (non refundable), and smaller lockers in the pool area for wallets etc. which take 50 cents coins (which are refundable).
There is a restaurant (basic fast food, drinks and ice cream), some toys for smaller children in the restaurant and pool areas, and magazines for kids and adults in the restaurant too. There is also a smoking room.
Outside there are beachvolleybal courts, a grassy area, a kiddies "pool" and the before-mentioned small outdoor pool. A recent addition is the all weather "ice" skating rink, where you can skate on artificial ice all year round. Skates are included in the entry fee!
The downsides of this pool: it is quite small and the water is too cold for my liking. They have the water temperatures written on the wall but they always seem way off to me!
