Bad Gastein is a spa town in the Austrian state of Salzburg, situated at the northern rim of the Hohe Tauern national park. It has 5,838 inhabitants. The name "Bad" means "spa", reflecting the town's history as a health resort.

Winter is the ski season, being a small town makes it easy getting to the lifts which most take you right to the top so makes it more enjoyable taking a nice big run, the mountains link up and you can get around to more then one mountain to ski on for the same pass. If you find youself down town at noon there is a shuttle bus to take you back to Bad Gastien.
Walk down the hill to find bars and you will find a few, just don't slip on the ice.
