The City of Smiles, as people would know it, Bacolod is the capital of the Negros Occidental province in the Visayas region of the Philippines. It's famous for the Maskara Festival held each year in October.
It has a total land area of 161.45 km² with an estimated population of 453,873. Sugacane plantations are a popular scene along the highways covering the most land. Rice fields are second in regards to land coverage and the rest vegetables, coconut, banana and corn.

I took another one of those 25 hour travels and flew from Virginia to Manila and on to Bacolod City. I hate those long flights. They are so exhausting and worse when I do not get enough sleep which is usually the case. There wasn't much in ways of excitement this visit We did spend a day at Pandanon Mountain Resort in Murcia. On this day we are getting ready for our trip to Boracay for New Year's and our road trip. We do our packing and hang out with her family and get massages. I got foot scrubs and massages a few times a week the whole time I was on this trip. Foot scrubs are about 3-4 bucks and basically you soak ur feet and then they "scrub" your feet for like literally an HOUR until it feels like a baby's foot. Man, it is the BEST! As the plane taxied down the Bacolod Airport runaway I thought, What am I doing here? I had the urge to fly right back to Manila and sleep in my own bed. Three months ago I resigned from my Advertising-Media job, and envisioned this trip as a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants-thing as I get away from it all. Which is why I only had one reservation: Pension Bacolod, which was the city's best budget hotel according to Lonely Planet.
