Backstret Cafe
Backstret Cafe Reviews

Backstreet Cafe is an elegant restaurant that is located on the backstreet of South Shepherd Drive in the River Oaks district in Houston. This is one of my favorite places to have a late 2:00pm Sunday Brunch. The crowd usually consists of pretentious old people but they can be easily ignored. The food, service and the ambiance of enjoying a temperate spring morning on a windy tree covered garden while sipping whatever alcohol you're use to waking up to are what you would come here for. The food is New American with some southern dishes thrown in. Migas for brunch, or if you're more awake than I am at 2:00pm on a Sunday Morning then you could go for Duck spring rolls.
Favorite Dish: On an average visit I just go for several courses including desert. My favorites for starters are the Duck spring rolls or the fried portobello, for the main I would go with whatever they offer off the menu for lunch, or if you're there for brunch go for the Migas or Jalapenjo Fettuccine.. very good. For desert, start with a Carmel Twist cappuccino; which is a pretty good spiked cappuccino, I can't name the spirits involved off hand, but the end result is a stiff cappuccino of both uppers and downers. |
