Beware Hawaiian Airlines Confiscates Backpacking Stoves Jul 20, 2011
Hawaiian Airlines is the Major InterIsland Carrier in the Hawaiian Islands. They have a very draconian policy with respect to backpacking stoves. Their policy is that they will not accept any backpacking stoves regardless of whether there is any fuel in them. They won't even allow brand new stoves that have never been opened. If you have a stove in your checked in luggage you will likely find, when you pick up your luggage that there will be a note that they have removed your stove.

I know because they removed mine. After I complained they finally agreed to reimburse me for the stove.

If you want to avoid the hassle of having your stove confiscated I recommend using Go Airlines. The problem with Go Airlines is that they do not fly as often as Hawaiian and are slower. They do tend to cost less however.
