Backpacker's Travellers Inn Kuala Lumpur Reviews

Cheap in Chinatown Mar 25, 2012
Resting in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's bustling Chinatown, you'll find Backpacker's Travellers Inn, a hostel designed with budget travellers in mind. Chinatown, being part of Central Kuala Lumpur, is easily accessible by bus or train and within walking distance of the Bird and Butterfly Parks.

Within Chinatown, the hostel isn't the easiest to find. Whilst on one of the main streets, the entrance is almost just a small side door with quite a small sign above the door, lost in the mish-mash of all the other signs surrounding it.

The reception is on the first floor, as is the "computer room" which consists of 3 computers (RM2 for 15 minutes, March 2012), the rooms are on the next few floors above that! The staff at the reception were not the friendliest, by no means were they rude, more indifferent! The shared wet-bathrooms boast western-style toilets with shower heads over them (wet toilet seats are an inevitability) but are generally quite well maintained. On the rooftop there is a bar that stays open until 1am; unfortunately, by the time we made it back from the Reggae Bar it was closed. Nice idea though.

We stayed in a private room with fan (£3 each for a night). The room is very small and basic (see photos) but for the price you pay, it does the job. The room consisted of 2 single beds (with just enough room to walk in-between), a fan and a small table. There was an internal window facing the hallway consisting of hard wood blinds and curtains, offering some privacy. The outer windows aren't actually windows at all, but many even rectangular holes nearer the ceiling, covered with mesh.

I would recommend this hostel to other travellers that want to travel on a budget. While it is by no means a good hostel you do get what you pay for. In fact, I am heading back to Kuala Lumpur in September 2013 and will be staying at this hostel again.
Bit small....
Cosy.....
Trying to escape. No luck.
