Back of Chapel Backpackers is a hostel located in the Melbourne suburb of Windsor and is directly south of Prahran. This area of Melbourne is a happening place, but I had other plans and did not spend anytime around the hostel.

At first glance, I did not think much about this hostel. I've been burned by bad hostels in the past and this one did not look very promising. The rooms and showers were dirty and the beds were not comfortable.

What really worried me was getting a good night's rest. When I booked the hostel, they advertised that a bar was located on the premises. I did not look forward to having loud music blaring all night long. After my first night, I learned that the bar only catered to occupants of the hostel and was small. This meant that I was able to get a good night's sleep after all. Usually, I wouldn't care about sleeping, but I had to get up early everyday I stayed here, so it was important.

This hostel is located in a great location, but getting to downtown requires a few subway trips. If downtown is the place you want to go, then I wouldn't recommend this hostel.

During major events and holidays we will charge full amount of total booking for those who do not show or do not cancel without a 48 (7 days notice December/January) hour notice period Same applies for christmas to New Year bookings and Australian Open in January, however we ask for 1 week's cancellation or we will charge for your stay at the normal rate not the discounted hostelworld rate Grand Prix week bookings must be paid at time of booking or not guaranteed March 10 -March 16 (no refund on cancellations) If you require to cancel your reservation at regular times please give us 48 hours notice(not peak times)/7 days notice (peak periods) otherwise the cost of your booking will be forfeited at the rull rate which can be slightly higher than on this site. December - January we will need 1 weeks cancellation. Reservations made after 5 pm cannot be guaranteed on same day of arrival. If you intend coming in tonight then please book prior to 7 pm or else chek in at 8 am the following morning Please note no check ins on jan 1 2009 Reception hours are 8 am -4 pm weeknights so if you are arriving out of hours we can send you our late arrival procedure but you must specify time of arrival Monday and Friday 8 am - 6 pm Saturday and Sunday 9 am - 7 pm Arrivals after reception hours will be charged one night in advance to the credit card number provided.
