Ba San Miao Temple
Ba San Miao Temple Labuan Reviews
Colourful & beautiful Taoist temple Jun 09, 2011
I had no idea what to expect of this temple, but when I saw it, I was "wow"! Very colourful and beautiful! The temple is relatively new, build by the Hokkien Community. It's also known as the Eight Deity Chinese Temple, or the Heaven and Earth Temple.
It was obviously pretty new, as the paint looked fresh and all the details in mint condition. But nonetheless it still looked great! The roof and its ornaments were beautiful in the sun and the main hall, another beautiful place.
It's divided into 2 halls. The main is the "Heaven Hall". There was a ramp down, which we went through and we entered a very dark and filled with inscent smoke room, called the "Hell Hall". The images of the wood carvings were indeed of hell, seeing various tortures taking places.
The temple also had several tiled paintings and in the back.... an elevator! A first for me at any temple I have visited throughout my travels in Asia. Another proof of how new it is. Convenient for those who can't walk or have difficulty walking stairs.
The top level had another, mostly gold and yellow coloured hall, with beautiful stone carvings, as well as a carved ceiling with a ying & yang symbol. The view outside was over a road and acres of trees.
Although it being new and "modern", this temple was really worth the visit. It's free and if you have the time, have a stop here!
Part of the list What to see and do in Malaysia
