An evening at the Bq mall Jun 10, 2014
Tagbilaran is a city in Bohol,Philippines where life is easy going and laid back. There are no big activities or night life as one could find in any tourist space.Finishing Sunday obligations at church we decided to add the evening with a walk along the main avenue, watch a cinema and dine out for the night. We began our walk towards the well known BQ mall or Bohol Quality supermarket which was a few hundred meters from the City Square or St.Josephs Cathedral on the main CPG avenue opposite City square mall. The avenue out side the mall was full of people and street hawkers.Lined with all kinds of shops including money changers and pharmacists this place was where we could notice a few tourists and my inquiry revealed that Pangaloa beach a few miles away was where the tourists normally stayed even though it was away from the city. There were two malls facing each other, one was the Tagbilaran City Square mall and the other was the BQ Mall. The mall was popular and had many sections catering to all needs. We first went looking around the food court,a travel agency, "Centroverita" religious articles store, pharmacy, departmental store and a nice cozy restaurant specializing in fish food on the upper floor adjacent to cinema halls.Gravity was the movie we watched in one of the two halls and it was neat except for the audio which was very loud.Coming out walked over to a quite table a bit away from a happening birthday event and dined to taste some good Filipino food. The Blue marlin was the specialty of restaurant and it was exciting for the first try.Having dined to our desire we walked down stairs to get into a Tuk Tuk back to our Hotel of stay enjoying the breeze all the way.Well;night life in Tagbilaran is certainly quite different from what it could be in the nearby touristy Pangaloa island square but I enjoyed the peace of a quite evening experience which is sometimes the best thing that one can get before hitting bed.
