B and B Utrecht - Reviews - Utrecht

B and B Utrecht is a hostel just outside of the main town centre in Utrecht. The accomodation, physically speaking, was OK. The bathrooms were damp, there were no lockers, and the keys only worked sometimes, but the beds were alright and the sheets were clean.

The website said that they provided food and all you had to do was cook. This is only true if you can live on muesli, stale bread and dried pasta - there was nothing else in the whole building. Unless you count discarded weed as a vegetable. I don't think that I do. The staff were OK, a bit brusque but not actually rude, and pretty accommodating when I wanted to leave early.

The location is pretty central. INternet is free and unlimited. There is a piano, which works pretty well, especially at 2am.

The other guests were strange. Despite this being a hostel, and everyone being backpackerish sort of people, no-one talked to anybody else. Everyone came in, plugged themselves into their i-pods/ laptops, and tuned out for the night. The only guy who wanted to talk to me wanted to complain about how nobody would talk to him, which is understandable. I'm prepared to accept I may have been there on an off-week.

This hostel is also site of the "breakfast porn guy" incident, when on my last morning, a guy was watching porn on the internet whilst I was trying to eat my breakfast. This is probably not typical of the hostel.

I can't recommend this place.
