B&B Aquarium Alghero Reviews
A simple, homely room in a flat in suburban Alghero Jul 02, 2010
This B&B consists of 2 rooms in a flat owned by a Dutch-Italian couple. It's very relaxed and you feel like you're at home.
The location is fine - about a 10 minute walk from the centre/old town. Alghero is a funny place for accommodation - there is only 1 (spartan) hotel in the old town, overpriced beach-side 80's hotels, agriturismos in the farmhouses outside the town and B&Bs in the suburbs, like this. It's fine, but as in anywhere in Sardinia: it would be difficult without a car.
The actual room is cosy, regular size with satallite TV and a bar fridge. What makes it special however is the large terrace which looks out over a football field and mountains beyond. The decor is cheery and nice as well.
The ensuite bathroom is quite compact but renovated and comfortable, with a cooling aquarium theme.
The breakfast is a nice, standard continental fare of toasted ham & cheese sandwiches, ham, cheese, nutella, rolls, coffee and juice. This is different from a Sardinian breakfast which is generally sweet biscuits etc. It's also served on the terrace - a different part, which can get very hot by 10am in summer! You do have to confirm a time that you want to eat breakfast which means that you had to plan well.
The service is friendly and relaxed, although they don't seem to have a lot of recommendations on places to go.
Overall, if you are looking for a B&B on the edge of Alghero, its a good option. I personally would go for an agriturismo in the country next time however.
