The initial impression one gets is of an upscale, trendy, class but low key dining experience. It is tastefully furnished with low-key lighting and a true architect's dream with touches of bamboo, pine, oak, cork, and tile. You won't find the kitchy, Japanese souvenirs that you see in some cheaper restaurants, just a few well done pictures on the wall, some bamboo plants and a wonderful array of paper light fixtures at ceiling level. I ate at the sushi bar and was served my 6 pcs salmon sashimi in a beautiful crushed ice filled bowl with edible decoration on top ($14). I also enjoyed nigiri tuna (2 pc- $4.25), miso soup ($2), marinated seaweed salad with crab pieces and fresh lemon on top ($4) and an endless cup of hot green tea (free!). The wait staff were great, answered my many questions and were always available for refills. I definitely recommend Azuma's and I will return.
