Azul Profundo Santiago Reviews
Quality fish restaurant in Barrio Bellavista Jan 18, 2015
S33°25.980' W70°38.086' this restaurant is in the popular Barrio Bellavista area, north of the river toward the statue of the Virgin Mary on the hill Cerro San Cristóbal overlooking Santiago. This area is full of with bars for students and good restaurants. Azul Profundo is on the Lonely Planet short list for best Santiago restaurants. Expectations were high from the outset.
Ceviche Muito Bom, on the lemon marinated fish and seafood starter list, offers shrimps, ginger, oranges, papaw and quinoa ceviche. Served cold, it was a party of delicate tastes. Never tasted this combination before. Excellent. It blew us away.
The risotto de Mariscos offered shrimps, scallops and calamari risotto as a main course. Interesting combination with the risotto, because preparing good risotto takes 30 minutes of adding bouillon to the risotto rice. The chef took 10 minutes, producing a risotto that could have been better. Overall, it tasted good, but not amazing like the starter.
Azul Profundo is a fine fish restaurant during our visit in December 2014 for enjoying good fish courses. Recommended.
