Ayres Hotel Anaheim Reviews
Wonderful room, Wonderful service Jan 03, 2010
The Ayres was a wonderful location and made even more so as we stayed there the night after an overall unsatisfactory visit at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Ca (reviewed previously). The Ayers Hotel was selected and paid for by a group that initially brought me in to speak at a leadership day in Ontario, then asked for a presentation in another County as well. The hotel was three blocks from the location selected for the presentation.
Sylvia and I loved this hotel from the second we walked into the lobby. The staff greeted us with welcoming smiles and stressed that any concerns about the room or any requests for assistance of a personal nature would be attended to immediately. We were offered warm cookies and cold milk (which we gratefully accepted). The milk was in the dining room and we were told it was open all night if we wanted coffee or milk.
Our room was beautiful, but the public spaces were also very appealing in style. The hotel decor was a faux French theme carried through to include the wall art in the Reubens style. The halls had a number of chairs with tables arranged in different areas. (We saw one set of these occupied by a laughing couple, so it wasn’t just decoration) It had a real European feel. The Lobby , while not overly large, was outstanding. It had couches , a marble floor and a splendid fireplace with a large picture above it. There were huge planters and area rugs.
In writing this review I asked Sylvia-..(who has a better sense of style and taste than me)- to rate the bathroom. She replied "excellent- are you kidding?" I do, however, know a good bed and ours was superb; from bedspread to mattress, including the pillows (really). High speed wireless internet and a very nice desk and chair combo were in the room.
Breakfast the next morning was a cook to order from a preset number of options. Very good. I asked for delayed checkout-no problem I had the opportunity to walk down the street and speak to a large group of very nice people. Sylvia opted not to join me and was forced to settle for going from the hotel to Disneyland for the day, allowing me to pick her up on the way to the airport. (Note: the shuttle is not affiliated with the hotel and makes drops and picks back up at a number of area attractions. On this day the shuttle did not arrive as scheduled. Hotel staff gave Sylvia a ride to Disneyland .)
The hotel is a short and easy walk to the Honda Center (professional sports and special events ) and also to Angel Stadium(professional baseball and special events)
On the recommendation of the hotel staff I ate at an excellent sports grill restaurant one-half block from the hotel, after the presentation. A number of the largely local region professionals who were in the presentation ate there also and several were complimentary of the Ayres we had stayed in and the chain. In fact, we fully intend to stay at their properties again when we are traveling on our own.
