Accomodation is few and far between in Murgab. Saying that I happy with this home stay, it had a bed and a western style toilet. The family were very attentive too. It still warrants an average score but may be the best in town.

Ayperi homestay Murghab Great homestay Jul 12, 2012
The best place in Murghab, with lovely large cool rooms. This homestay has three large rooms, one with twin beds, the other two with floor beds. A very large airy indoor eating area with the usual low table affair for dinning.

It does have a western toilet (flushing, a rarity in this part of the world) and a welcome Banyan(hot water tank which you use to fill up a smaller bowl then add your cold water from a large cold water tank and then your shower is complete!). Basically a GIANT bucket wash. Hot water is also a treat here, after several days without washing facilities (unless you count the glacial streams of ice cold water!)

The owners are very welcoming, and they will do all they can to accommodate you. Food has a special mention. It is customary in this region to ask guests what they would like to eat (sensible replies only) and what time you would like to eat, types of tea etc. The food is delicious, and very tasty, there are not any real options in Murghab. It is usually better to eat at your homestay and this one really does not disappoint. On our first night we had meat and potato fried, breakfast was options of egg, lovely Tajik bread, amazing raspberry jam, rice porridge etc. Second night we had a delicious Lag man soup as we had eaten a large lunch at our guideā€™s home.

We had the twin bedded room, which was very comfortable, and we also had an inside wash sink.

ELECTRICITY is a problem for the whole of Murghab, not just the guest house. The power station is pretty rubbish so one day half the town gets electricity and the other half does not! Until around 8pm, this homestay does have a generator (not all homestays have this) which when it is their outage time they do start up (When it is dark enough to warrant it) and electricity is available through this means until around 9.00pm. When the power station trickle is strong enough to charge phones and camera batteries etc.
