Danger Alert: Travelers Theft Aug 17, 2011
Copenhagen is an awesome town with beautiful women, exquisite comfortable settings, and a wide array of activities to enjoy, but be careful while you are there. From a town with such tranquil settings one wouldn't imagine being robbed in broad daylight. Upon arrival in Copenhagen, a couple of collegues and myself transferred to the hotel Comfort Inn X-press. One of my friends from South Africa arrived early only to be approached by a group of uniformed men claiming to be with the immigration department. The men displayed badges, radios and seemed to be very legitimate, but when these vigilantees cornered my friend into a more secluded sector further away from the hotel and next to the railway, they asked for his wallet to expose I.D. and passport. While searching through wallet these thieves removed all existing cash, returned wallet and quickly fled the scene. Police were called to the scene immediately after occurrence in which they confirmed that this was an elaborate scheme which had played out. My advice to you if you are traveling to this sector of any place in the world: If you feel that you are falling victim to a scheme as previously mentioned, call police immediately and verify the credibility of agents. Hope this notice will be helpful.

There has been East-european gangs doing this scam - it not that often they go on tourists - it is mostly elderly they target!
