Aviles Spain. Feb 19, 2017
Aviles is 28 km north of Oviedo Spain,it is an industrial city with an old Quarter. There are many covered walkways under colonades of arches, must be good to visit when it rains.--- At Aviles rail station it is shared by RENFE [main ]and FEVE [narrow guage ]. The bus station is outside.--- I stayed at Hotel San Felix ,basic and comfortable, about 400m from the rail station.---Padres Franciscanos Church is the oldest building in Aviles.---Galiana Street is a charming street of buildings , built in 17th century, they say it has hardly changed. The colonades give shelter from sun and rain. The street is a pedestrian area.--- Town Hall in Baroque style was built in 1670., is in Plaza Espana.--- San Nicolas de Bari church was built in Romanque style over 800 years ago and is in San Francisco street.--- The river Aviles is on the coastline of Asturias North Spain.--- The name "Aviles " is supposed to from Abilius a Roman King.
