A small yet beautiful area of the Highlands. Not much in the way of big tourist attractions, but there is skiing (when it snows), hiking (when it doesn't) and lots of wildlife.
Breathtaking scenery and a small friendly town. Great for those who are into outdoor activities and adventure sports, or those who like photography and would like some stunning scenes. Things to Do: Hillwalking - many mountains nearby, the Cairngorms includes 4 out of 5 of Scotland's highest mountains Mountain biking & Quad Biking - numerous forests nearby, with tracks and paths suitable for off-road cycling and riding, eg. Rothiemurchus, Glenmore, Glenfeshie. Reindeer at The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, Glenmore Skiing at Cairn Gorm mountain Golfing - Golf courses in Aviemore and the Cairngorm area Aviemore has many hotels and a couple of hostels to suit every need from the common travelling backpacker to corporate executive attending the local conference centre.

My father visited this place nearly 40 years ago and said he found our old family plot. There was nothing left at the time but the foundations and described the town as being small. When we arrived I found a lot has changed. Now, the town is a destination for holiday travelers as it is located in the heart of the C...

For an hour we were here and I bought my sister a replica of Glamis Castle for her china cabinet. The bus ride took us past brown and green colored mountains and also past Prince Charles's hunting lodge. We were supposed to visit BALMORAL CASTLE, home to the Royal Family during hunting season, but since the QUEEN was in re...

FRIDAY: DAY 15: I felt fine for breakfast and we went to the CAIRNGORM REINDEER CENTRE where we put on WELLIES (boots) and took a short drive to a parking lot. We (about 6 of us) hiked up the mountain with a guide. The hike wasn't that bad, mostly muddy but the wellies were great and kept my feet warm and dry! It took about 30 minutes to get where the deer were. We got to pet and feed the reindeer. They ate out of our hands and were so cute, very tame and friendly! T...
