Auttiköngäs Oct 29, 2008
Auttiköngäs is (as I didn't find better word from dictionary) nature path in Autti which is 80 kilometres from Rovaniemi and 60 from Kemijärvi and Posio. Autti is Sami language and it means deep gorge.
I don't remember exactly how long is the nature path, but something between 2 and 4 kilometres. The path is going through forest with timber rafting channel, bombing marks from war and lots of Finnish nature during it. In one point there is long ascent to over the hill (again I didn't find better words from dictionary to ascent and hill so I hope they are correct) where is lookout spot and view there is just amazing. In one other point there is lean-to as a rest stop and really dangerous looking bridge. There is also info boards telling about Finnish nature. Most of the path is covered by wooden walking track, but some of it is not and those parts are a bit hard to walk.
Auttiköngäs is really good way to long distance tourists to see beautiful nature of Finland. And it doesn't cost anyhing.
Like I have heard many people saying: "Picture tells more than thousand words". So look at the pictures and you will get better image of Auttiköngäs.
