Shane, my boyfriend and I flew into Hobart from Sydney, we hired our rental car and made our way down to Kettering, a small town built around a quiet bay, this is where the ferry to Bruny Island leaves from. We enjoyed a quiet lunch in a resteraurant overlooking the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island before boarding the ferry for Bruny Island. A short 15 minute ferry ride later we were disembarking onto the picturesque Island. We had one night booked in Mavista Cottages, near the town...

Back once again! This is my fourth visit to Sydney on my trip, but it just keeps getting better and better. What a city; the weather, the harbour, the coast, I'm constantly falling in love here. While I'm getting extremely pumped for Asia, at the same time I can't get enough of Syddy. This time I'm here to gear up for Asia and to meet up with friends and buddies. On my second visit to Syddy this trip, I met up with TravBuddy Allan (Codebeck). We met up, drank a couple of beers and wa...

I love flying and one of the things I love most about flying is what I see out the window of the plane. This is some of what I saw on my way from Hobart to Sydney, some very pretty scenery. I flew out of Hobart where the clouds streaked across the sky, and I got a great views of Mount Wellington with Hobart spread out along its base and along the shores of the Derwent River. I couldn’t quite see my place, but could see the bay near my home as well as the building where I w...

Our first pit stop today was the Taroona Shot Tower. I visited here a couple of months ago and wrote a blog about it then, so won't write a lot about it here, except to say, dad climbed to the top while I waited at the base and took a few photos.

Well, Saturday night, what are going to do?
Tonya who is living with us and who is new to Adelaide, saw an advert for Adelaide Roller Derby and thought it would be good to see. I was the only one that had ever been to any Roller Derby games and that was many years ago. The American teams used to come out to Australia but for some reason, Roller Derby in Australia was being cancelled. I went to the last match held in Adelaide. It included grudge matches during the half time break.
So we all ...

Today, I came to see more of Sydney. Gina was sooo nice to drive us around the city, and even to some outskirts. Everything I expected and wanted to see and do in Sydney, from Opera Harbour, to some daring bars, to native animals, was accomplished. I just fell in love with Sydney!
-------------------------------
As she promised, Gina picked us up from our hotel and drove us around the city. We recalled that she once mentioned about some "nude beaches" in Sydney. Sh...

King's Park in the center of Perth is the ideal place to go to on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Just beautiful views on the city and the river, and magnificent botanical gardens... Also a place to remember the sacrifices made by all those to whom we owe so much!

Occasionally flight attendants make the 'in-flight safety lectures' and on board announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some examples that people have heard or reported: On landing into Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, a notoriously windy airport during certain months, we bounced on the runway and it felt as if we landed twice, while taxiing to the terminal the cabin manager started her announcement with, ”Welcome to Alice Springs. Welcome to Alice Sprin...

Here are some impressions of my time in Sydney from 21 June - 08 July 2005
My first day in Australia. My first day in Sydney. My first day at the Pink House in Kings Cross. The receptionist Melinda greets me in her flower child way and let’s me know: “Don’t make so much noise when you’re sitting ouside or come home late because of our stupid neighbours. They are a pain in the ass. By the way, this evening we are all going to a bar, get some free Long Island Ice Tea and get dr...

Hi everyone, we went to the Ice Bar on Sunday Evening, was a very
strange experience. The cost was $30, they only allowed small groups of
people for 30 minute periods, in the price we got a free cocktail and
if you wanted you could eat your glass, i had a few bites and had
enough, lol.

I spent the day sightseeing in Sydney today. I like to visit
Circular Quay and the Rocks, visit some of my favourite shops and check out the
beautiful Sydney harbour. Robyn decided she would like to come with me; it is
the same everywhere, people never sightsee in their own back yard, and Robyn
had not been into Circular Quay for some years. We wandered from the train
station around to the Opera House where I took a photo or two of the house and
the harbour. Next, we went into the histo...

Back in Brisie, the builders have finished renovations at my auntie’s house. I arrived just in time to help out with some painting and decorating, great! Of course it was lovely to see my auntie and uncle again, cheers Jan and Andrew for putting me up (and putting up with me!) one more week.
As soon as I had the chance, I popped in the only two shops in the whole of Queensland which claimed to fix cameras damaged by sand, and surprise, surprise, they quoted me more than...
